About Us

The Early Years

Jake, founder of Wild & Fruitful, has spent his life immersed in the world of food, drink and hospitality.

Growing up in his parent’s busy guest house in the Lake District town of Keswick, Jake often spent days with his Grandma Pat.  By age 14, she had expertly tutored him in the art of making jams & chutneys, many of which were served in the guest house.

Proving popular, Jake was soon getting requests from guests asking to purchase the preserves. By 16 Jake had taken over much of his parent’s basement with jars, not only being sold to guests, but all around the local town as everyday staples & handmade gifts.

Following his GCSEs, Jake worked full time in a local boutique hotel (alongside studying for his culinary qualifications) and soon found himself as the sole pastry chef. Gaining recognition and awards along the way, he also ran private supper clubs and continued his enterprising jam business on the side.

2020 - Wild & Fruitful

At 21, Jake took the helm of Wild & Fruitful… just as lockdown began. For most this may have been a set-back, but Jake used this time to perfect new products, develop ideas and bring the brand to life.

2021 & 2022

As the world steadily opened up again- Wild & Fruitful’s production increased to meet the ever-growing demand. Continuously learning, onboarding new customers and growing his team- Jake worked all hours of the day. Drawing inspiration from the Cumbrian landscape and traditional British cooking to create new recipes including Cheese Lovers Fig Chutney, Chilli Jam and Cumberland Spice Sauce.

Wild & Fruitful achieved national recognition in 2022, featuring in Channel 4’s ‘A Lake District Farm Shop’ documentary with the recently launched Keswick Ketchup taking centre stage. Jake turned into somewhat of a celebrity, being recognised on the street and constantly being asked when the next batch of Keswick Ketchup would be available (today it’s still our best-seller!).

3 years of dedication paid off- winning our first two Great Taste Awards from the Guild of Fine Foods.

2023 & 2024

Early 2023 we gained our SALSA accreditation; our certification that we meet a certain high standard of food hygiene & following food safety laws, providing our customers with the knowledge that we have the best practices in food preparation and safety.

Summer 2023 saw the launch of sister peanut butter brand, Mothernutter. Adding a playful range of all-natural flavoured peanut butters to our range.

Fast forward to, April 2024 marked a big milestone in Wild & Fruitful’s story- stocking our products in Booths. The Northern supermarket has been Jake’s local since he was a kid and seeing the products on shelf was a very full-circle moment.

We closed the year launching a bespoke range in partnership with the House of Commons- from the heart of Cumbria to the palace of Westminster, safe to say Wild & Fruitful had come a long way from Jake’s childhood kitchen.

The Story Continues- 2025

2025 has been the busiest year to date- continuing to grow the business around the UK, installing a brand-new production line, launching 5(!) new sauces and notably, launching our partnership with Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

Wild & Fruitful’s team is now 10 strong, all working with the same vision to bring creative flavours to pantry staples.

“I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come — from jars in my parents’ basement to shelves across the UK, there’s still so much we want to explore. We’ve got big ideas, a strong team, and a shared passion for creating proper food that people love. This next chapter is about pushing boundaries and growing with purpose’.
